Girls tennis falls
Since day one, Toledo Notre Dame has been tabbed the favorite to win the Three Rivers Athletic Conference girls tennis championship.
At the Findlay High School Courts on Tuesday, the Eagles did nothing to change anybody’s mind.
Even with Teagan McNamara, one of Notre Dame’s top players and a state qualifier last season, on the sidelines, the Eagles lost just six games in five matches in rolling to a 5-0 TRAC win over the Trojans.
Juniors Alicia Nahhas and Kate Smith swept their singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, with Nahhas beating Corinne Hoffman at No. 1 and Smith blanking Savannah Hosey at No. 2. Notre Dame’s Sheridan Miller posted a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Camryn Hessling in the No. 3 singles spot.
In doubles matches, Notre Dame’s Nina Eid and Lindsay Humbles (No. 1) topped Emma Miller and Erin Bosse 6-2, 6-0, and Jordan Cady and Xan Miller (No. 2) beat Jenna Burget and Rachelle Crow 6-1, 6-0.
Toledo Notre Dame improved to 3-0 in the TRAC opener for both teams. Findlay fell to 1-2 heading into Thursday’s nonleague contest at Bowling Green.
