Prep soccer: Upper Sandusky sweeps River Valley

UPPER SANDUSKY — Brandon Miller scored four first-half goals and assisted on another as Upper Sandusky cruised past River Valley 9-2 in nonleague boys soccer action Tuesday.

Miller scored the first two goals of the match before Taylor Emerick found the net on an assist by Miller to put the Rams (2-0) up 3-0. Miller scored again on an assist from Aaron Pirc and was unassisted on another score less than six minutes later.

Nick Hensel found Emerick for another goal to make it 6-0 before River Valley’s Ryad Eddavad scored to put the Vikings (0-1) on the board.

Miller scored the opening goal of the second half, followed by goals from Sam Duress and Eli Kinley. Sterling Edler found net on an assist from Eddavad to complete the scoring.

ARCHBOLD — Archbold took a 2-1 lead on Van Buren on Tuesday, then held on in a boys soccer match that was called at the half because of lightning.

Trenton Boyette gave Van Buren a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match. Archbold tied it when Jackson Waidelich scored six minute slater, and Matthew Sevey made it 2-1 at the 20-minute mark.

Both teams attempted three shots on goal. Van Buren’s Nathan Maynard made one save; Archbold’s Elijah Robison made two.


Heritage Christian trailed 4-2 but rallied to score the final three goals for a 5-4 boys soccer win over Fremont Templs Christian on Tuesday.

Kyle Paulsen scored back-to-back goals in a one minute span early in the second half to give Fremont Temple its 4-2 lead. Joe Oestreich scored with the 20- and 22-minute marks of the second half before Kenneth Lee gave the Minutemen its final margin with a tally at the 25-minute mark.

Steven Schultz added a pair of goals with two assists for the Minutemen.

Girls Soccer


Jensen Hiegel scored a first-half goal for Liberty-Benton as the Eagles tied Eastwood 1-1 in a weather-shortened nonconference girls soccer game on Tuesday.

The game was terminated in the second half with 32 minutes left.

Colbi Colchagoff had four saves for the Eagles (0-0-1). Both teams had five shots on goal.

Miller added an assist and Sierra Miller had two for the Rams (2-0) who converted two penalty kicks in the contest.

ASHLAND — Skyler Campo broke open a 1-0 contest with two second-half goals to lead Ashland Crestview past Mohawk 3-0 in nonleague girls soccer action Tuesday.

Alexa Finley’s goal at the 27:29 mark of the first half gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead at the break. Kayla Eichelberger finished with an assist.

Mohawk only managed one shot on goal in the contest and Ally Weinandy made 15 saves in net for the Warriors.

Caitlin Geckle and Paige Lawhorn added two goals each for Continental, which led 8-0 at the half.
