Golf Roundup: Black Knights win NWOGGL triangular

FOSTORIA — Van Buren’s girls golf came away with the co-medalist and the victory Thursday as the Black Knights topped Findlay and Lima Central Catholic in a Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League triangular at Fostoria Country Club.

Van Buren shot 192, Findlay 198 and LCC 206. Co-medalists were Van Buren’s Zoie Nieto and Findlay’s Suzanne Short; each shot 40.
Van Buren’s Erin Neall carded a 48, Maria Trusty a 50, and Carlee Schmelzer and Ashley Franklin each shot 54.

Kaelyn Kouns fired a 52 for Findlay, with Jackie Fontana and Emma Harris carding 53s.

Lexi Evans led LCC with a 48.

Lammers leads MC

PAYNE — Josiah Rager fired a 35 to lead Lincolnview to the team title at Tuesday’s Wayne Trace Invitational at Pleasant Valley Golf Course.

Lincolnview captured the team title with a 163-164 margin over runner-up Wayne Trace.

Convoy Crestview (169), Allen East (172), Miller City (175), Fort Jennings (192), Paulding (194) and Antwerp (195) followed in the team standings.

Davis Lammers led Miller City with a 41. Jacob Schimmoeller (44), Trey Hermiller (45) and Cody Sheets (45) completed the scoring for the Wildcats.

Alex Sealts’ 44 was the top round for Fort Jennings. Sam Vetter (48), Nick Von Sossan (49) and Austin Luebrecht (51) also played for the Musketeers.

Foltz advances

TOLEDO — Van Buren’s Hunter Foltz placed second in the 14-15-year old boys age group at the Drive, Chip and Putt subregional competition Thursday at Inverness Club.

With his performance, Foltz advances to the regional-level competition at Highland, Mich. on Sept. 6.
