Girls soccer: Kalida, L-B play to 2-2 tie

Abby Rachel scored a pair of second-half goals for Liberty-Benton as the Eagles tied with Kalida 2-2 in girls soccer action on Saturday.
Jackie Gardner scored for Kalida (0-1-1) in the first half, and the Wildcats got help from the Eagles, which scored an own goal. Liberty-Benton outshot Kalida 10-4.
Morgan Knapke had eight saves for Kalida, and Colbi Colchagoff had six for Liberty-Benton (0-1-2).

CONTINENTAL — Riverdale’s Aubreah Manns scored a goal and dished off two assists as the Falcons held off a Continental comeback to win 6-3 in nonconference girls soccer action on Saturday.
Riverdale (2-0) jumped out to a 2-0 first-half lead with goals from Lexie Wright and Manns. But Continental cut the Falcons’ lead to 4-3 in the second half after McKenna Scott netted two goals and Taylor Niese added one. Two goals in the last 15 minutes from Riverdale’s Taylor Frey and Katie Conley sealed the Falcons’ second win of the season.

DELPHOS — Delphos St. John’s led for much of the game, but a late goal by Fort Jennings’ Brandi Kaskel evened the score as the teams played to a 1-1 draw in a nonleague soccer match Saturday.
Maria Giambruno-Fuge began the scoring for the Blue Jays (0-0-1) when she popped the ball over keeper Erin Osting’s head for a goal with 29:10 remaining in the first half to give her team a 1-0 lead.
The Musketeers (1-1-1) were unable to answer until Keri Eickholt played a ball across to Kaskel, who was set up right in front of St. John’s keeper Kristina Koester, and she found the back of the net with 4:10 remaining in the game.
Koester finished with five saves on six shots and Osting recorded three saves on four shots.
