Prep golf: August leads L-B to second at Springbrook Invitational

LIMA — Four Liberty-Benton golfers broke 80 on Saturday as the Eagles finished second out of 20 teams at the Allen East Springbrook Invitational at Springbrook Golf Course.
Adam August (75), Tyson Neiling (76), Jackson Logsdon (77) and Nick Streacker (78) contributed to the Eagles’ score of 306, just three shots off Rossford’s winning score of 303. Kalida, led by Zach Erhart’s 73, finished third overall at 310. Jeff Knueve (76) and Collin Nartker (79) each broke 80 for the Wildcats.
Patrick Henry finished fifth (331) with the help of Jared Nelson’s 73 and Aaron Tietje’s 76. Erhart and Nelson tied for the low score among area golfers.
Van Buren (353) finished ninth, while Ottawa-Glandorf (365), Ottoville (370) and Leipsic (375) finished 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively. Wesley Markward (77) led the Big Green, and Eric Parys’ 78 led the Titans.
Britton Jackson shot an 83 to lead Van Buren, and Leipsic’s Alex Ellerbrock shot an 86 to lead the Vikings.
Wapakoneta’s Drew Wayman shot a 1-under 69 to take medalist honors, and Rossford’s Mason Robinson finished a close second with a 70. Nelson finished third over Erhart, despite both shooting a 73, due to a scorecard playoff.

Belcher leads Bluffton
MOUNT GILEAD — Aaron Belcher carded an 80 and three other Bluffton players recorded sub-90 scores to lead the Pirates to third place at the Pine Lake Golf Club Invitational on Saturday.
Marion Pleasant topped Buckeye Valley for the title by a 299-327 margin.
Belcher was consistent for Bluffton, shooting a 40 on the front nine and a 40 on the back. James Harrod finished one stroke back of Belcher with an 81, Rich Streicher shot an 83 and Eli Runk rounded out the scoring with an 89.
