Area notes: Fostoria native named assistant athletics director at Wright State

FAIRBORN — Fostoria native and former Wright State University volleyball head coach Joylynn Brown has been named assistant athletics director for internal operations at the school.
Brown, who played volleyball at WSU 1989-1992, was an assistant coach for the program from 1995 to 1998 and then head coach until 2005 when she chose to step down to concentrate on other endeavors. During her time as head coach, she was named the Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2001 when she was also selected as the AVCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year.
Brown’s duties will include oversight of internal departmental operations, human resources and sport supervision. She graduated from Wright State in 1993 with a communications studies degree and a concentration in English. Brown is a graduate of Hopewell-Loudon.
