LIMA –Savannah Hosey needed a bit of overtime, but swept both sets by 7-5 scores on Monday to highlight Findlay’s 5-0 win over Lima Central Catholic in nonleague girls tennis action at the Collette Streets Courts in Lima.
Hosey’s No. 2 singles win over LCC’s Emily Janowsky completed a singles sweep by the Trojans. Corinne Hoffman beat Kacey Bradshaw 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Camryn Hessling doubled up Meredith Bruno 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.
Findlay took the doubles matches by almost identical scores. Emma Miller and Erin Bosse (No. 1) beat the LCC (4-3) team of Natalie Patricio-Agosto and Sophia Venturella 6-1, 6-0, and Jenna Burget and Rachelle Crow (No. 2) defeated Olivia Stanley and Shelby Young 6-1, 6-1.
Findlay, 3-2 overall, is 0-1 in Three Rivers Athletic Conference play after having to face a powerhouse Toledo Notre Dame team in its league opener. The Trojans will be looking to notch their first TRAC wins and improve their positioning for the league tournament when they travel to Toledo Central Catholic today and host Toledo Whitmer on Thursday.
