Boys soccer: Upper Sandusky, C-R score wins in NCOSA openers

ADA — Four players scored two goals each as Upper Sandusky beat Ada 8-3 on Tuesday in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association game.

Cameron Brady, Taylor Emerick, Sam Duress and Brandon Miller provided all the scoring for Upper Sandusky (4-0 overall, 1-0 NCOSA) before the game was stopped with less than a minute remaining in the second period due to lightning. Cole East scored two goals and added an assist to lead Ada (0-3, 0-1).

Brady got things started with 27:21 left in the first period with the first of his two goals.

Emerick made it 2-0 six minutes later and added his second score, sandwich around a goal by East, to make it 3-1 at the 18:00 mark.

With Upper leading 4-1 at intermission, Ada’s Erryk Kateyama closed the gap to 4-2 with 37:11 left.
But Brady and Miller each found the net within a five-minute span to put Upper Sandusky ahead 6-2 with 29:02 to play.

RAWSON — Kyle Sands’ first-half goal proved to be enough for Cory-Rawson as the Hornets edged Old Fort 1-0 in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match.

Isaiah Colvin and Austin Schaller were each credited with an assist on Sands’ goal. The Hornets (2-1, 1-0 NCOSA) outshot Old Fort 20-3.

Jake Wilson had 19 saves for Old Fort (0-3, 0-1 NCOSA), while Keith Edwards stopped three shots for Cory-Rawson.

OTTOVILLE — Jared Fanning and Joel Beining scored two goals each as Ottoville cruised past Lincolnview 6-0 in a nonleague matchup.

Logan Kemper and Zane Martin also found the net for the Big Green, who improved to 3-0-2.

Lincolnview (0-3-0) was outshot 16-3 in the contest.

EASTWOOD — Van Buren fell behind 2-1 midway through the second half, but two goals in just more than a minute brought the Black Knights back for a 3-2 win Tuesday over Eastwood in a nonleague boys soccer game.

JJ Mowery tied the game at 2-2 on a free kick 21 minutes into the second half, and Ryan Turner scored the game-winner on an assist from Ryan Domke 1:13 later. Trenton Boyette also scored for Van Buren (2-1).

Nathan Maynard had six saves for the Knights, who outshot Eastwood (1-3) 21-8. Lucas McCullough scored twice for Eastwood.


BUCYRUS — Wayside Christian built an 8-0 halftime lead Tuesday en route to a 15-2 victory over Heritage Christian in a Buckeye Christian Schools Association boys soccer game.

Steven Schultz and Joe Oestreich scored for the Minutemen (1-1). Oestreich and Kenneth Lee had assists. Andrew Ridenour recorded 10 saves.

Wayside Christian (2-0) outshot Heritage 25-9 and hot three goals and two assists from Grant Wert, and two goals and an assist from Isaac Pinter.
