Prep football: Six must-see games in 2014

Sept. 5 (Week 2)
Patrick Henry at Bryan
The Patriots dive right into the deep end of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League portion of their schedule with a road game against the defending league champs. The NWOAL is loaded with quality teams and Patrick Henry’s push for a league title begins with the Golden Bears.

Sept. 19 (Week 4)
Wynford at Carey
The Royals were perennial front-runners in the old North Central Conference, and figure to be among the top dogs in the new Northern 10. Carey has Northern 10 title aspirations of it own, and this will be a key game for the Blue Devils to reach that goal.

Sept. 26 (Week 5)
Ada at Bluffton
With Convoy Crestview almost certain to be in the Northwest Conference race, the stakes in this game are clear: the loser can likely forget about winning an NWC title. The winner, on the other hand, gets a nice haul of Harbin computer points.

Oct. 3 (Week 6)
Liberty-Benton at Arlington
The first of several key Blanchard Valley Conference matchups will go a long way to determining a division title. Running backs Austin Combs (L-B) and Austin Rettig (Arlington) are the best in the BVC.

Oct. 10 (Week 7)
Van Buren at Leipsic
This game figures to be another big battle for a BVC division title. Leipsic won a hard-hitting affair 26-20 a year ago, and the Black Knight will be itching to return the favor.

Oct. 24 (Week 9)
McComb at Arlington
If McComb wants a shot at a BVC divisional crown in Week 10 against Liberty-Benton, it must get past Arlington in this one. The Red Devils, meanwhile, have their own solid shot and, if they get past L-B in Week 6, could be playing for an outright title.
