FREMONT — Patricia Barreto and Kelsey Schroeder combined for 31 kills on 49 of 53 spiking to power Findlay past Fremont Ross 25-17, 25-13, 25-18 in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference volleyball match on Thursday.
Barreto hammered 16 kills with three aces while Schroeder was 16 of 16 serving and netted 15 kills to go along with 11 digs. Lindsay George had 38 assists on 84 of 84 setting for the Trojans (3-4, 1-1 TRAC).
Maddy Heiman also added nine digs.
Fremont Ross fell to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the TRAC.
Findlay hosts Bowling Green and Coldwater in a tri-match on Saturday.

Boys soccer blanked
PERRYSBURG — A sluggish start to the second half doomed the Findlay High boys soccer team Thursday as the Trojans fell 4-0 to Perrysburg in a nonconference game.
Perrysburg (3-1-1) led 1-0 at the half on Andrew Bosworth’s goal, and put three goals together in the first 10 minutes of the second half to ice the game.
Logan Giesige scored less than two minutes into the half, Bosworth tallied another goal less than four minutes later and Tom Corcoran made it 4-0 four minutes after that.
Perrysburg outshot Findlay 11-6. Aaron Elchert had six saves for the Trojans (4-2). Kyle Rowan recorded three saves for Perrysburg.
The Trojans return to action Tuesday in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference home game against Lima Senior.

MONROE, Michigan — Findlay’s Suzanne Short was the medalist with a 45 to lead the Trojans to first place in a Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League quadrangular with Sylvania Southview, Toledo Whitmer and Maumee on Thursday.
Findlay won the match with 196 strokes. Whitmer topped Sylvania Southview 204-214 for second place while Maumee couldn’t field a complete team.
Karina Bruce had a 47, Jordan Whitman shot a 51 and Emma Harris added a 53 to complete the scoring for the Trojans. Kaelyn Kouns (55) and Jackie Fontana (57) also played for Findlay.
