COLUMBUS — Findlay High School senior Kyle Nunn is one of four local and area athletes who have ben selected to compete in the annual Ohio High School Football Coaches Association all-star games to be played April 29 at Masssillon’s Paul Brown Stadium.
Nunn will be on the North roster for the Division I-III matchup at 4 p.m. Patrick Henry’s Donny Johnson and Kent Petersen and McComb’s Matt Cherry will be on the North squad for the Divisions IV-VII all-star contest at noon.
A 6-foot-3 safety, Nunn was a two-time second-team all-Ohio pick in Division I. As a senior, the University of Pittsburgh signee had 30 tackles and intercepted five passes.
Johnson and Petersen were both all-Ohio selections for a Patrick Henry tem that was 10-0 during the regular season and 13-1 overall with a trip to the Division VI state semifinals.
Johnson was named Ohio’s Divison VI Offensive Player of the Year after shattering both single-season (2,512 yards, 38 touchdowns) and career (5,115, 70 TDS) rushing records at the school. Petersen was an all-league defensive end for the Patriots.
Matt Cherry, along with his twin brother Mike, was a two-time all-Ohio lineman for McComb.
The 6-foot-5, 295-pound tackle was a mainstay on an offensive line that averaged a league-best 406.6 yards and 42.4 points on offense. Matt Cherry was also a first-team all-Blanchard Valley Conference selection on defense after recording 56 tackles, 12 of them behind the line of scrimmage.
