UF roundup: Men’s golf places seventh

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — The University of Findlay men’s golf team improved its score by six strokes on a cool, blustery day in finishing seventh on Sunday in the Saginaw Valley State Invitational played at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky.

Freshman Luke Kelly carded a 1-over par 73-72–145 total to lead UF and place fifth in the medalist standings. Findlay followed Saturday’s 307 with a 301 on Sunday in posting a 608 team total.

Justin Roth (75-77) shot a 152 for the Oilers, followed by Chase Lakari (79-75–154), Cam Wardley (79-78–155) and Dylan DeWitt (80-76–156).

Bellarmine won the event with a 306-286–592 total. Tiffin (300-295–595) edged Grand Valley State (298-298–596) for second.

UF lacrosse team falls

ERIE, Pa. — The University of Findlay’s Kyra Bradley scored five goals on Saturday but it wasn’t enough as the Oilers’ lacrosse team dropped a 16-13 nonconference decision at Gannon.

UF (2-5) outshot the Golden Knights by a 30-25 margin, but turned the ball over 19 times. Freshman Ciara Burud had three goals, five draws, four caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Olivia Sherman recorded two goals and three draws while Natalie Fury caused five turnovers.

The Oilers will be back at home Saturday to host Charleston at 1 p.m.
