BOWLING GREEN — Ada’s Zach Beaschler won both of his matches to advance to the semifinals in singles play at the Division II Northwest District boys tennis tournament at Bowling Green State University’s Keefe Courts.
The top three singles players at BGSU qualify for next week’s OHSAA Division II state tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
Beaschler, the defending district champ, whipped Lexington freshman Brent Webster 6-0, 6-0 in his opener. He blanked Lima Central Catholic’s Ben Brinkman 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
Beaschler will take on Lima Shawnee junior Jackson Schaaf in Saturday’s 10 a.m. semifinals.
Ada teammate Cade Mullins dropped his opening-round match to 6-3, 6-3 to Clear Fork’s Noah Brown.
Bluffton’s Justin Haggard stopped Sandusky Perkins’ Dhanush Kota 6-3, 6-1 in the first round. The Bluffton junior fell to Ottawa Hills’ Tyler Gargas 6-0, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
