Legion Baseball: Findlay loses tourney game

ARCHBOLD — Findlay’s Post 3 American Legion team took an early lead on Napoleon on Wednesday. But the River Bandits did all of the scoring the rest of the game in chalking up a 9-3 win in first round play of the 2017 District 1 Legion baseball tournament.
Nathan Insley belted a three-run home run in the top of the third inning, his fourth homer of the season. Napoleon tied the game on Tony Walker’s sacrifice fly in the fourth, and broke it open with a six-run rally in the seventh.
Napoleon (24-12), which has been state champion twice and runner-up four times in the past eight years, will take on Ottawa’s Post 63 Legion team at 7 p.m. today in the winners bracket semifinals at Defiance High School. Findlay (26-9) plays either Pemberville, Whitehouse or Toledo, 7 p.m. Friday, also at Defiance.
