Prep volleyball roundup: Hardin Northern wins NWCC

MARION — Hardin Northern’s volleyball team finished an unbeaten run through the Northwest Central Conference on Thursday as the Polar Bears defeated Marion Elgin 25-19, 25-22, 25-19.Shelby Alloway led the Polar Bears (15-4, 8-0 NWCC) with 12 kills, eight digs and three aces. Rylie Bame added nine kills and eight digs, while Cassidy Deckling had six digs nad four kills.
Emily Jones served four aces, and Madison Robson had a team-high nine digs.
Marion Elgin dropped to 15-6, 6-2 NWCC.

OTTAWA — Carly and Taylor Alt had 12 and 11 kills, respectively as state-ranked Ottawa-Glandorf clinched the outright Western Buckeye League volleyball title with a 25-8, 25-9, 25-13 win over Elida.
The Titans, ranked No. 8 in Division III, improved to 18-3 overall and finished the WBL slate at 9-0 for the third time in the past four seasons.
Elida fell to 5-17, 1-8.

Caitlin Elseser slammed 17 kills and six blocks and Alissa Rhodes handed out 46 assists on 119 of 121 serving to help Liberty-Benton to a 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18 win over Defiance.
Hannah Warrington finished with 12 kill and 16 digs and Schy Shepherd added 11 kills for Liberty-Benton (21-1).
Katie Veenstra’s 17 kills led the Eagles, who are ranked No. 7 in the Division III state poll.
Defiance evened its record at 9-9 with the loss.

OTTOVILLE — Bridget Landin and C.J. Kemper each recorded double-doubles as state-ranked Ottoville swept Continental 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 to clinch the outright Putnam County League volleyball title.
Landin put in 13 kills, 12 digs and eight blocks while Kemper collected 17 kills, 10 digs and five blocks for the Big Green (21-1, 6-0 PCL), ranked No. 4 in Division IV.
Jessica Stauffer led the Pirates (16-5, 3-3) with 29 assists.

Kylie Rausch added eight kills and Alyssa Jordan had 26 assists for the Red Devils, ranked 20th in the latest Division IV coaches poll. Arlington ends its regular season at 17-5.
Addy Lafferty had seven kills and Moriah Helms seven digs for Arlington.

Maddie Schroeder had 45 assists and Jill Hannah collected 21 digs for the Royals (5-15, 4-10 NBC). Maddie Daniels served three aces.
Genoa slipped to 7-15 overall, 3-11 NBC.

The Black Knights improved to 12-10 overall while the Pirates, who were led by Aimee Ritter’s 16 assists, fell to 2-19.

Cayla Troyer dished out 30 assists, and Alaina Niese, Abbey Schroeder and Elena Niese each served for a pair of aces as the Wildcats wrapped up their regular season at 11-11.
Schroeder also came up with 22 digs.
Liberty Center completed the regular season at 4-18.

Tyriana Settles smashed 37 kills on 70 of 77 hitting with three blocks to lead the Redmen (15-7, 9-5 NBC) who finished fourth in the league standings.

Zimmerman had 11 digs and sits at an exact 1,000 for her career.
Sydney Kin had 18 kills and Lawyer Stansberry was 53 of 53 setting with 22 assists as the Blue Devils, ranked 12th in the latest Division IV coaches poll, improved to 18-3, 13-3 N10.

HAMLER — Four Patrick Henry players registered at least seven kills as the Patriots cruised past North Baltimore 25-7, 25-12, 25-16 in nonleague volleyball action Thursday.
Faith Frania had a team-high nine kills, Carissa Rosebrook added eight and Abby Carrizales and Katelyn Drewes both had seven for Patrick Henry (15-7). Audrey Sonnenberg had 33 assists and Chloe Seedorf added 13 digs.
North Baltimore dropped to 2-19.
Katelyn Weinandy recorded 16 digs and smashed five kills while Alivia Light added 11 digs and two kills to lead the Tigers.
Chloe Lanning added four assists on 32 of 34 setting while adding three aces at the service line.

Qiara Palos had 15 assists as Lakota (5-13, 1-9 SBC River) won their first league game of the season. Faith Biddle added 24 digs.
