Prep volleyball:Carey rolls to 20th win

CAREY — Lawyer Stansberry dished out 34 assists on 77 of 77 setting and served four aces as Carey’s state-ranked volleyball team cruised past Riverdale 25-6, 25-9, 25-13 in a Division IV district opener Monday.
The Blue Devils (20-3), ranked No. 10 in the final Division IV state coaches poll and the No. 1 seed in the Findlay district, will host No. 6-seed Hardin Northern at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Blue Devils also reached 20 wins in a season for just the third time in school history (22-4 in 2015 and 20-4 in 1997).
Sydney Kin added 12 kills, Dana Worst had 12 digs and Hannah Zimmerman tallied 11 kills, nine digs and three aces for the Blue Devils.
Riverdale finished its season 1-21.

SYCAMORE — Madi Chester slammed 15 kills, Alexa Konkle had 37 assists and Jordyn Lease served six aces Monday as Mohawk rolled past Upper Scioto Valley 25-9, 25-10, 25-6 in a Division IV district opener at Mohawk.
The third-seeded Warriors (18-4) will host No. 7 Gibsonburg (17-6) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in a Findlay district quarterfinal. USV ends it season at 3-18.
Destini Oler had eight kills and eight digs for Mohawk. Aubrey Margraf shared team-high honors with eight digs. Kaylee Ward had 11 kills, Oler added three blocks and Margraf served three aces.

ARLINGTON — Hannah Willow smacked 12 kills and served seven aces in leading Arlington over Lakota 25-5, 25-9, 25-6 in a Division IV district volleyball opener Monday.
Arlington (18-5), the No. 5 seed in the Findlay district, advanced to take on No. 4 Hopewell-Loudon at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at H-L. Lakota finished 4-17.
Alyssa Jordan added 25 assists, while Olivia Griggs had six digs, six aces and three blocks for the Red Devils.

DOLA — Shelby Alloway and Rylie Bame slammed 20 kills each on Monday in leading Hardin Northern to a 25-17, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17 win over Old Fort in the first round of the Division IV district volleyball tournament.
Cassidy Deckling added nine kills and had six ace serves. Madison Robson set up the offense with 44 assists. Alloway had 10 digs and Bame nine.
Seeded sixth in the district field, Hardin Northern (17-5) will face No. 1-seeded Carey at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in the district quarterfinals.
Kiely Tayor led Old Fort with 14 kills. Morgan Miller had seven kills and six digs and Madison Guth had 17 assists for the Stockaders (8-15).

ARCADIA — Tori Green had 15 kills, three blocks and three aces Monday as Arcadia defeated Ridgemont 25-9, 25-17, 25-18 in a Division IV district opener at Arcadia.
The eighth-seeded Redskins (13-10) will play at No. 2 New Riegel (17-5) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in a district quarterfinal. Ridgemont finished its season at 5-16.
Arcadia’s Caity Cramer had 10 digs, served three aces and handed out 25 assists on 67 of 68 setting. Sydney Ramsey had a team-best 13 digs and was 28 of 28 serving with five aces. Samantha Watkins added six kills and six digs.

GIBSONBURG — Vanlue fell to higher-seeded Gibsonburg 25-17, 25-12, 21-25, 25-20 in Monday’s Division IV Findlay District opener.
The Wildcats, who were the 10th seed, fell to 6-17 overall to end their season. Seventh-seed Gibsonburg will play No. 3 Mohawk in a sectional final at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Sycamore.
Amanda Clymer paced Vanlue with team-highs of 16 kills and five blocks, while Maliah Snook led with five points with 12 kills and two aces.
Audrey Phillips led the Wildcats in both assists (20) and digs (9), while Emma Franks served three aces and matched Snook’s five points and Emma Biller spiked seven kills.

Columbus Grove (17-6), the No. 2 seed in the Ottawa District, will host No. 7 Kalida at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Rylee Sybert added 26 assists and eight digs, while Amy Vorst registered 16 digs for Columbus Grove. Paige Bellman added 10 kills and a pair of blocks.
Katelyn Weinandy and Alivia Light had 18 and 10 digs, respectively, for North Baltimore (2-20).

ADA — Ada made quick work of Lima Temple Christian on Monday, blitzing the Pioneers 25-11, 25-9, 25-8 in the opening round of the Division IV district volleyball tournament.
Melina Woods dominated at the net with 25 kills and five blocks. Maddie Gosard led Ada with 25 assists and Sidney Gossard had 10. Kaiti Newland had a team-high 14 digs, Maddie Gossard had 12 and Olivia Alexander 10.
Seeded third among the 13 teams involved with the Ottawa-Glandorf District, Ada improved to 15-7 and will host Pandora-Gilboa on Thursday in the district quarterfinal round.

McCOMB — Paige Fenstermaker pounded 29 kills and had four blocks, and Kayla Ferguson had 16 kills and 29 digs on Monday as Pandora-Gilboa rallied from a 2-1 deficit to knock off McComb, 25-23, 17-25, 11-25, 25-20, 15-12 in the opening round of the Division IV district volleyball tournament.
Addilyn Diller had 25 digs, Madison Hovest 22 and Fenstermaker 21 to spearhead P-G’s defensive effort. Diller led the Rockets with 43 assists.
Seeded eighth in the Ottawa-Glandorf district, Pandora-Gilboa (8-15) travels to Ada at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for a quarterfinal matchup.
McComb’s Lauren Grubb was 121 for 121 setting with 33 assists, 26 for 28 serving with six aces, and had seven kills and eight digs. Chloe Spoon was 38 for 39 spiking with 12 kills and five blocks, and Alyssa Herr 21 for 24 spiking with 11 kills and seven blocks. Alysha Like also had seven blocks and Shaye Hemminger had a team-high 35 digs.
Sixth-seeded McComb ended its season at 9-13.

WAYENSFIELD — Cory-Rawson topped the higher-seeded Waynesfield-Goshen 25-19, 27-25, 7-25, 26-24 in Monday’s district opener to earn its first postseason win since 2012.
The Hornets, who improved to 8-15 overall will play the Division IV’s Ottawa district top-seeded Leipsic, in a sectional final at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Leipsic.
Amanda Green helped lead C-R, which trailed 17-12 in the fourth set, serving a perfect 5 of 5 with three aces to tie the set at 17-all before serving the final point for the win. Green finished 16 of 17 serving with four aces and added team-highs of 15 kills and 15 digs and chipped in two blocks.
Riley Garmatter added 15 assists, 10 kills with two blocks for the Hornets, while Roni Risner led with three blocks and Sami Roth tallied 10 digs.

Ottoville (22-1), the No. 4 seed in the Van Wert district, will host No. 8 Convoy Crestview at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Lincolnview finished 12-11.
C.J. Kemper added 11 kills and 13 digs, while Bridget Landin had nine kills, 11 digs and six blocks for the Big Green, ranked No. 3 in the final Division IV coaches poll. Brynlee Hanneman also had six blocks.
