Prep volleyball: Allen East ousts Knights from district tourney

HARROD — Lydia Reineke had 18 kills Tuesday as Van Buren lost 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19 to Allen East in a Division III district volleyball opener.
The Mustangs (15-6), seeded fifth, advance to play at No. 3 seed Ottawa-Glandorf at 7 p.m. Saturday in a district quarterfinal. Van Buren ends it season at 12-11.
Lindsey Shaw had 22 assists and seven digs for Van Buren. Emma Reineke had six kills, Faith Dewalt had a team-high 11 digs, and Mackenzie Saltzman and Jessica Reinhart each had five digs.

COLDWATER — Bluffton’s Ali Moser and Josie Stever each had eight digs but top-ranked Coldwater was too much for the Pirates who fell 25-8, 25-12, 25-6 in Tuesday’s Division III district volleyball opener.
The Cavaliers (21-1), ranked No. 1 in the state for Division III, advanced to meet Spencerville in the district quarterfinals 7 p.m. Saturday.
Aime Ritter dished out 10 assists for Bluffton which bowed out at 3-20 overall.

MINSTER — Chloe Seedorf and Faith Frania racked up 18 and 17 digs, respectively, but Patrick Henry fell 25-20, 25-22, 25-15 to Minster in Tuesday’s Division III district volleyball opener.
The Wildcats advanced (13-10) to meet Lima Perry in the district quarterfinals 7 p.m. Saturday at Minster.
Audrey Sonnenberg added 19 assists and eight digs as the Patriots finished their season at 14-8.
