Prep Wrestling: 3 area wrestlers reach Maumee Bay semifinals

OREGON — Findlay High School’s Boston Dubocq, and Patrick Henry’s Max Neiling and Wil Morrow all reached today’s semifinal round to lead area wrestlers in the 45-team Maumee Bay Invitational on Friday at Oregon Clay.
The host Eagles scored 109½ points and have a slim lead on Elyria (106½ ) and Wauseon (106) atop the leader board. The Trojans are seventh with 68 points, while the Patriots stand 25th with 40 points.
Debocq had an impressive day for the Trojans at 152 pounds. He opened by pinning Kettering Fairmont’s Trent Williams in 59 seconds and Olentangy’s Jimmy Sensibaugh in 43 seconds.
He hammered Amherst Steele’s Matt Stevens 12-3 in the quarterfinals to improve his record to 19-4.
He’ll wrestle 5-0 Farouq Muhammad of Elyria in today’s semifinal round.
The Trojans’ Liam Morrison (126), Seth Douglas (145), Jeremiah Snider (182) and Zach Bryant (195) all went 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals before losing and dropping into the consolation bracket. Max Jolliff (138) is also still alive in the consolation bracket for Findlay.
Neiling improved his record to 23-2 for the Patriots with three wins at 138 pounds.
Neiling pinned Berea-Midpark’s Carter Brunskole in 45 seconds before scoring a win by injury default against Jolliff. In the quarters, Neiling stuck Anthony Wayne’s Nick Schneider in 5:59.
He’ll face top-seeded Hunter Yackee (24-4) of Wauseon in the semifinals.
Morrow (14-2) recorded a pin in 5:35 against Mayfield’s Evan Schmidt in his opener. He whipped Anthony Wayne’s Luke Harrell 17-2 and pinned Indian Lake’s Cole Mefford in 1:23 to reach the semifinal round.
Next up for Morrow is a rematch with Delta senior Dylan Rogers, who scored a win by major decision over Morrow earlier in the week when the two met in a Northwest Ohio Athletic League dual match.
T.J. Rhamy reached the quarterfinals at 170 pounds before falling and is still alive in the consolation bracket for the Patriots.
