Prep basketball roundup: Vanlue girls reach milestone

CRIDERSVILLE — Vanlue started strong and had the game well in hand by the fourth quarter in whipping winless Lima Perry 50-32 in a nonleague girls basketball game Monday.
Amanda Clymer had a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double and led Vanlue with five assists as well. Emma Biller had nine points and a team-high 13 rebounds as the Wildcats improved to 10-10, the school’s first 10-win girls basketball season in 15 years.
Lima Perry (0-19) got nine points from Tia Barfield and eight from Lily Floyd.

ARCADIA — Down five points at halftime, Arcadia’s girls basketball team used a 15-6 edge in the third quarter to get the lead en route to a 53-43 victory in a nonconference game.
Kennedy Pratt hit 13 free throws and scored a game-high 23 points for Arcadia (18-3). Megan Mock had 11 points, Emma Saltzman added five assists and Pratt had a team-best eight rebounds.
Morgan Miller led Old Fort (8-13) with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Whitney Bilger scored eight points and Madisyn Spencer had seven points.

TIFFIN — Hopewell-Loudon freshman MaKayla Elmore outscored Tiffin Calvert by herself Monday as the Chieftians defeated the Senecas 70-27 in a nonleague game between the longtime Midland Athletic League foes.
Elmore posted a double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds as H-L improved to 17-4. Jacque Burns added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Emily Pace scored nine points and Olivia Zender had eight points.
Shelby Hemminger led Tiffin Calvert (5-16) with seven points and four steals. Sydney Johnson added six points.

DELPHOS — Fort Jennings outscored Delphos Jefferson from the field but could not keep up with the Wildcats at the line in dropping a 58-49 nonleague girls basketball game on Monday.
Fort Jennings had a 38-37 edge in 2s and 3s. But Delphos Jefferson attempted 33 free throws, made 21 of them and used that edge for the difference in the game.
Sarah Miller scored 17 points, Alli McClurg had 11 and Devin Carder added nine for Delphos Jefferson(13-8). Kristen Luersman scored 18 points and Makenna Ricker and Madison Neidert tossed in 12 each for Fort Jennings (5-15).

DOLA — Things didn’t start well for Ridgemont Monday night.
But when the second half started, the Gophers got going.
Ridgemont overturned a 24-20 halftime deficit with a 15-10 edge in the third quarter, then blitzed Hardin Northern 19-3 in the final eight minutes to chalk up a 54-37 Northwest Central Conference win over the Polar Bears.
Ridgemont (3-15, 1-6 NWCC) outscored Hardin Northern 18-9 from the line, 12-0 from 3-point range, and 34-13 in the second half in winning its third game of the year and first in league play. Jayden Streets led the Gophers with 15 points, Jordan Streets and Ethan Mouser added 11 each and Connor Martino netted nine.
Hardin Northern (0-20, 0-7 NWCC) got good offensive balance, but just six players scored. Hunter Jolliff led the Polar Bears with nine points, Brady Cramer had eight, and Cody Wilmoth, Owen Wetherill and Daylin Pees all had six.
