ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have interviewed the driver of a California school bus that crashed but are still investigating what caused the accident that injured 12 people.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Valentino Olivera said Friday the driver gave investigators a brief statement late Thursday but he does not know its contents.

Investigators will review surveillance videos from two on-board cameras and plan to inspect the bus next week. They are also looking into the driver’s medical history.

The bus veered off the road, jumped a curb and plowed into trees and a lamp post Thursday afternoon in Anaheim.

Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn says two students and the driver remain hospitalized but are expected to survive.

Three others with minor injuries have been released from the hospital and six more were treated at the scene.
