The Findlay Fire Department is reminding residents and contractors not to plow or pile snow in the vicinity of city fire hydrants.
The department suggests that those who have hydrants near their properties keep a 3-foot-diameter area around the hydrants clear of snow, so they will be accessible during emergencies.
There are nearly 2,400 municipal fire hydrants in Findlay. The department said it will concentrate its efforts on clearing them near places such as schools, nursing homes, factories, medical facilities, and buildings that have larger occupancies.
