Seizure blamed for truck accident

BLUFFTON — A southbound tractor-trailer drove across both northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Bluffton Monday evening after the driver suffered an apparent seizure.
The Findlay post of the State Highway Patrol reported the truck driven by William Frederick, 56, of Chatham, Ont., was southbound at 6:46 p.m. when the tractor-trailer crossed the median and the northbound lanes before striking a guardrail on the east side of the interstate. After hitting the guardrail, the truck continued on, striking a mile marker, trees and a fence.
The semi did not strike any other vehicles but forced traffic to slow down, the patrol reported.
Frederick was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital by the Bluffton Emergency Medical Service.
