UF hosts ‘Titans’ football coach

Herman Boone, the football coach made famous by the movie “Remember The Titans,” will speak at the University of Findlay April 23.
Boone will speak at 8 p.m. at the Winebrenner Theological Seminary. Boone, who was portrayed by actor Denzel Washington in “Remember the Titans,” will talk about overcoming obstacles and share his life experiences.
The event is open to the community. The cost is $1 at the door.
Boone is a former high school football coach, known for coaching at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va. during the team’s first season as a racially integrated group, according to the university
Boone was originally scheduled to be on campus in February as part of the university’s celebration of Black History Month but his speech was canceled because of the weather.
