UPPER SANDUSKY — A Nevada man has denied a charge of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of a woman last month.
Wade K. Gottfried, 29, of Nevada, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment last week on the first-degree misdemeanor charge, according to Upper Sandusky Municipal Court.
Gottfriend struck Stephanie J. Cowgill, 38, of Bucyrus, on June 25 on U.S. 23 near Upper Sandusky, according to the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office. Cowgill was attempting to get an item from the trunk of her car, which was parked off the roadway on a U.S. 23 entrance ramp when she was struck. Her two children in the car were uninjured.
A jury trial is scheduled for Aug. 21.
