Accident injures tow truck driver

NORTH BALTIMORE — A tow truck driver was injured Friday morning when he was clipped by a vehicle while standing alongside a tractor-trailer in Allen Township, south of North Baltimore.
Dale Sortor, 35, of Findlay, a driver for Ed’s Towing, was taken by Hanco Ambulance to Blanchard Valley Hospital, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputy Matthew Brunswick said a tractor-trailer had become stuck after turning north onto Hancock County 140 from Allen Township 114 about 6:37 a.m., and Ed’s Towing was called to remove the truck.
Ed’s Towing moved the tractor-trailer to the northbound lane of Hancock County 140, with a sheriff’s cruiser behind them.
Deputy Brunswick said Sortor was standing next to the truck getting information when a Lincoln Mark VIII driven by Shelly Bennett, 46, of West Leipsic, approached in the southbound lane of Hancock County 140. Bennett’s driver-side mirror struck the back of Sortor as she passed, Brunswick said.
The accident remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was the Allen Township Fire Department.
