Joan L. Pahl

CAREY — Joan L. Pahl, 57, Carey, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:05 Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, OH.
Born on April 10, 1956 in Gary Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Ronald G. and June (Campbell) Liles. She was raised by Pauline and Russell Shane. They preceded her in death, as well as their son, Gabriel Shane.
On April 30, 1977 at Our Lady of Consolation, Carey she married Ronald E. Pahl. He survives in Carey.
Surviving are her two daughters, Jessica L. (Matt Hill) Pahl, Tiffin, and Rachelle E.(Brandon) Thomas, Carey; four grandchildren, Kedrick and Preston Blair, Olivia and Poppy June Thomas; her siblings, Richard Liles, IN, Ruth Combs Hill, Lexington, KY, Dorothy (Jeff) Moore, IN. Also surviving are her extended family of siblings, Daniel (Kathy) Shane, Carey, Mary Watson, Wharton, Sharon (William) Feasel, Findlay.
She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.
Joan graduated from Vanlue High School in 1974. Most recently she was the Assistant Manager at the O.L.C. Gift Shop in Carey. She had worked at Pfeifer Accounting and had been a waitress at Woody’s Restaurant for 22 years. She had coached volleyball at Vanlue, Upper Sandusky and Carey High School and for CYO. Joan was also an exercise instructor in Carey for many years.
Joan loved the outdoors, crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of Eagles Aerie #2198, and American Legion #344 Ladies Aux., both in Carey. She volunteered her time raising money for Toys For Tots in Carey and was “Jingles” the Elf with Mr. & Mrs. Claus at Christmas in Carey. She was the type of person that never met a stranger, Joan could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a friend to all.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at STOMBAUGH-BATTON FUNERALHOME, Carey. Wake Service will be at 7:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. at The Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey with Rev. John Stowe OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carey.
