FOSTORIA — Weldon Brooks Fruth, 95, of Fostoria, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Good Shepherd Home, Assisted Living in Fostoria. She was born September 22, 1918 in Fostoria to Grace and Julius (Jack) Brooks. She married C. Richard Fruth June 28, 1943 in Fostoria who preceded her in death April 23, 1977.
She is survived by her two daughters, Margaret “Peg” and her husband Roger A. Burns of Columbus, OH and Nancy and her husband Edwin C. Alford of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Melissa Burns Johnson and her husband Justin, Scott R. Burns and his wife Shannon, Paige Burns Mattson and her husband Hakon, Brett T. Barth and Todd R. Alford; great-grandchildren, Moira and Luke Johnson, Cameron and Elliott Burns, and Wes Mattson.
Weldon graduated from Fostoria High School in 1936, later graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1940. She taught in the Fostoria High School Business Department. After retiring from teaching, she worked part-time at Kaubisch Memorial Public Library for ten years.
Weldon was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, volunteered for Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria Community Hospital, and the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She also belonged to Alpha Sigma Chapter of Alpha Delta State Professional Women’s teaching sorority, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Antique Study Club, and Mosaic.
There will be no services.
