THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Mary S. Kear, age 76, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at The Villages Hospice House, Florida.
Mary was born on February 16, 1938 in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Clarence and Alice (Messmer) Smith. Clarence is deceased and her mother Alice Smith is living in Upper Sandusky. She married Russell H. Kear Jr., on August 19, 1961 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky. Russell passed away on May 3, 2014.
She is survived by two children, Jennifer Kear (Brian) Street of Cumming, Georgia, and Andrew Russell (Tiffany Lowery) Kear of Wharton, Ohio. Along with eight grandchildren, Riley Street, Caleb Kear, Davis Street, Ian Kear, Braden Kear, Garrett Street, Nickey Lowery, and Mackenzie Lowery.
Mary is also survived by a brother, Fritz (Sue) Smith of Tiffin, Ohio, and 2 sisters, Phyllis (Robert) Caldwell of Upper Sandusky, and Kathleen Devine of Fort Myers, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her father, husband and son Matthew.
Mary was a graduate from Upper Sandusky High School and went on to earn her medical technical degree. During her career she worked at hospitals in Columbus, Maumee and then Indianapolis, Indiana.
For hobbies, Mary enjoyed golfing, playing cards, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services for Mary S. Kear will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 in the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Joe Trestor officiating. Burial will follow in Wharton-Richland-Union Cemetery, Wharton, Ohio.
Visitations will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
