Cheryl Lynn (Kazmaier) McNish, 70, died at 3:38 a.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at her home in the company of her family. She had fought lymphoma for the last two years. She was born July 11, 1944 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Fredrick R. and Opal L. (Grolle) Kazmaier. Cheryl married Robert L. Snyder in 1965 (deceased). She married Howard G. McNish, June 21,1980 and he survives.
She graduated from Eastwood High School in 1962, Bowling Green State University 1966 BS-EDU, 1980 Masters EDU, and Masters Administration/Supervision.
One of her passions was young children. She taught elementary grades at Grand Rapids, OH, Holgate, Bellevue, Findlay and VanBuren, was a gifted education coordinator in Wyandot and Seneca Counties then did testing of children for gifted education in the Findlay Schools. Cheryl enjoyed being an owner of the Sign of the Bell gift shop for 15 years after retiring.
Cheryl collected children’s autographed picture books and was an active member and served on the board of the Mazza Enthusiasts. She was also co-manager of the Mazza Gift Shop.
Cheryl had a passion for miniatures and together Cheryl and Howard created many dollhouses and scenes. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading and traveling. Another pleasure was riding in the Model A Ford cars her father had restored.
She was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, where she was an officer on the United Methodist Women’s Board, was a member of Katheryn Circle, Meth-o-Mates Sunday School Class and served on several commissions and as a care partner.
She was devoted to her family and is survived by a son Dean W. (Tracy) Snyder, Taylor Mill, KY, Step sons Evan A. (Beth) McNish, Glen Ellyn IL, and Scott D. (Crista) McNish, McComb OH, sisters Dolly A. (Wayne) Buchman, Pemberville OH, Wanda S. (Shawn) McDole, Naples FL, and will be remembered as “Nonnie” by grandsons David, Grant and Cole.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2014 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour (10:00-11:00 AM) prior to the service. Pastor Larry Kreps will officiate and burial will follow at a later date. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Mazza Museum, St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church’s United Methodist Women or a charity of the donor’s choice.
