Richard F. VanHorn II

SYLVANIA — Sergeant Richard Fane VanHorn II (Rickey) passed away at his Anchorage, Alaska home Sept. 15, 2017. Rickey was born May 11, 1989 in Sylvania, Ohio. He moved to Alaska, in January 2009, with the United States Army and was currently serving in the United States Army Reserves. Rickey served his country with honor and was awarded several medals to include: Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two stars, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, NATO Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Parachutist Badge.
Rickey enjoyed motorcycles, watching movies, swimming, gaming and spending time with his family. His family will miss his warm smile, humor, laughter and warm hugs. Most of all they will miss all of their family time together.
A memorial service will be held October 22 at 7062 Longwater Dr. Maumee Ohio 43537. Visitation and lunch will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. At 1:00 Pastor McBeath will commence a service, after the service we will have desserts and drinks till 3:00 p.m. Rickey was cremated. Please feel free to bring any pictures you have to share with the family and friends.
Rickey is preceded in death by his grandmother, Joyce Zitzelberger; and his brother, Andrew VanHorn. He is survived by his wife, Christina; his sons by marriage, Austin, Preston and Trenton Chukwak, and Francis Dennis II; his mother, Amey Hart (P.J Snyder); his father, Richard VanHorn (Jessica); his siblings, Sabrina, Austin, Caden, Rayven, Hayley, and Jesse VanHorn; and other extended family members.
