CAREY — Donna M. Tong, 92, of Carey, died at 8:48 a.m. Sunday, December 24, 2017 at her residence.
Born March 23, 1925 in Fostoria, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Theodore “Ted” and Ruth (Cook) Rinehart. She married Raymond A. Tong on June 23, 1944 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carey, by Rev. Coons. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2015.
Also surviving are their four children; Daniel Tong, Greg (Janet) Tong, Debra (Raleigh) Johnson and Julie (Ken) Lofton, all of Carey, 11 grandchildren, Tracy Tong, Kelli (Mike) May, Jeremy (Wendy) Tong, Misty Shultz, Lori Shaffer, Kris (Aaron) Snyder, Ryan (Erin) Tong, Eric (Ruth) Tong, J.R. (Amanda) Lofton, Dustin (Brittany) Lofton, Rachel Johnson, 21 great grandchildren, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Andrew, Jackson, Loryn, Dylan, Sage, Andrew, Allie, Carly, Aydan, Landon, Norah, EJ, Caleb, Jordyn, Austin, Barrett, Kayden and Adalynn and one great-great grandson, Pierson. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Carolyn Rinehart.
She was preceded in death by three siblings, Kay Davis, Betty Jones and Theodore Rinehart.
Donna was a homemaker and had worked at Budd Company in Carey. She, along with her husband, Raymond, had Donna’s Candy Kitchen for 20 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, and was considered to have a “green thumb.” She enjoyed candy making, reading and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from noon – 2 p.m. at STOMBAUGH-BATTON FUNERAL HOME in Carey. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Walt Shepard officiating. Burial will be Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.
