Billie M. Smith, age 79, of 1879 Ixora Dr. W, Melbourne, FL, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, July 4 at 3:00 a.m. at her residence. Billie was born on October 13, 1938 in Floyd County, Kentucky to Hazie and Oma (Howell) Freeman. On October 2, 1964, she married Dareld Smith, who preceded her in death. She has two surviving daughters, Damita “Mimi” (Donald) Wright, and Debra (David) Kraft, both of Melbourne, FL and a stepdaughter, Dani (Jim) Thorne of Allen, KY. Billie has one beloved granddaughter, Alexandra “Allie” Wright of Melbourne, FL. Also surviving is her brother Henry (Pauline) Sizemore of Findlay, OH and her sisters, Naomi (John) Shepherd of Findlay, OH and Nora (Jackson) Bales of Jonesville, VA.
Billie was preceded in death by her siblings, Arnold (Helen) Freeman, of Kentucky, and Nyoka “Nicki” (Randy) Decker, of Findlay, OH.
She worked at Dietsch Brothers on West Main Cross for 23 years, where she made many lifelong friends. Those friends became a second family to her, and she cherished each and every one of them. Billie was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and servant of God. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially when everyone gathered together as one group.
She loved to travel and was particularly fond of island cruises. She was a member of Faith Fellowship Church in Melbourne, FL.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Ken Willis officiating.
