John Karl Edgar Gauss II, 57, of Jenera passed away at Birchaven Village on Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio to John K.E. and Mary Alice (Waltz) Gauss. On May 24, 1986 he married Carole E.A. Frey and she survives along with their daughter, Alexis N. Gauss. Also surviving are two sisters, Susan (Allen) Welch of Rawson and Lydia Benner of Findlay; 11 nephews; seven nieces and 25 great nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gary G. Benner and a great-niece.
John attended Trinity Lutheran School until 1975, he graduated in 1979 from Cory-Rawson High School where he was active in football, basketball and track. He received his associate’s degree in Applied Science in Commercial Art from Ferris State College in 1983. He previously worked for the Kennedy Printing Company. John spent the last 18 years with Marathon Petroleum Corporation as an Advanced Graphic Artist. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
John’s life was centered around his faith, family and friends. He was an avid Ohio State fan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera with Pastor Alois Schmitzer III and Pastor Matthew Nowak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay and for one hour (10:00-11:00 a.m.) prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School in his memory.
