CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio man has withdrawn his guilty plea in the 2010 slaying of a 17-year-old boy struck with the door of a passing car and then beaten with a pipe.
Twenty-six-year-old Dustin Plottke had pleaded guilty to aggravated murder Jan. 22 in the killing of Daniel Swan, who died of head injuries weeks after being found lying along a road in Geauga (jee-AW’-guh) County, east of Cleveland.
But The (Willoughby) News-Herald ( ) reports that Plottke filed a request this week to withdraw his guilty plea, claiming that he is really innocent.
A prosecutor said he is going to oppose the request. Plottke’s sentencing was still set for Friday.
Plottke’s co-defendant, 23-year-old Matthew Boone, was sentenced to 15 years to life in December.
