MANSFIELD, Ohio (AP) — A husband and wife from Ohio are setting out on a cross country tour this summer. They just plan to do it on a custom-made tandem bicycle.
Bruce and Karen Beck are starting their trip on May 3 in Seattle. They plan on riding along the Pacific Coast to San Francisco before heading east all the way to Boston.
It won’t be the first cross country trip for Bruce Beck. He completed a similar trip in 1981 and always wanted to try it again once he retired from the Air National Guard.
The couple told the Mansfield News Journal ( ) that the 6,500-mile ride should take about four months to complete.
They’re already planning their next adventure — a bike tour across Europe.
