CLEVELAND (AP) — The death of an off-duty Ohio firefighter involved in a traffic crash is being called a suspected homicide.
The Cuyahoga (KY-uh-HOH’-guh) County coroner made the announcement Friday in the case of 58-year-old Theodore Wright. The coroner didn’t release a cause of death, but police said there was a gunshot wound to Wright’s torso.
Police said Wright, of North Royalton, died after his truck crashed into a utility pole on Cleveland’s east side early Thursday. He was driving west when he lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Police said the truck overturned, and he died at the scene.
The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports that Wright was a 32-year veteran Cleveland firefighter who is survived by his wife and three children.
