LEVANNA, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is continuing the search for an Ohio River canoeist who is presumed drowned after the body of his companion was pulled from the river.
Volunteers also were helping in the search for 20-year-old Cameron Buerger of Troy, which is north of Dayton.
A volunteer found the body of 19-year-old Marty Stanaford on Friday, six days after the pair set out in a 15-foot canoe from Levanna, about an hour upstream from Cincinnati.
The canoe was found 60 miles from their last known location.
Ohio Department of Natural Resources investigator Troy Thompson tells the Dayton Daily News that the man’s family has hired a helicopter to assist in the search.
