Democrats Look To Gain Ground In Ohio Senate Races

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Democrats in Ohio’s state Senate are seeking to strengthen their campaign strategy ahead of the fall elections.

Three of the Senate caucus’ campaign staffers are attending a training this week organized by the national Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. The Washington-based group supports Democratic state legislative candidates.

The staffers will learn how to apply Democrats’ national data in state legislative races, along with the best practices used in state legislative campaigns.

The executive director of the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus says the training will help his party pick up seats and slowly chip away at the majority held by Republicans for about 30 years. Zac Kramer says Democrats will make a play for six Republican-held seats in the November election.

Democrats hold 10 seats in the 33-member chamber.
