TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A 21-year-old northwest Ohio man is being held on a $1 million bond after police say his 2-year-old son was beaten to death.
Samuel Oliver appeared in court Thursday in Toledo, where he was arraigned on an aggravated murder charge.
A police report says Oliver caused the death of Dalano Oliver by “beating him about the face, head and body.” He was unresponsive when emergency workers arrived at the apartment following a 911 call on Monday.
The Lucas County coroner ruled the child’s death a homicide.
Oliver’s family would not comment after the hearing. A message left with a public defender wasn’t immediately returned.
