Ohio Elections Chief Removes County Board Members

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — The state’s elections chief has officially removed three members of the troubled Lucas County elections board in northwestern Ohio.

Secretary of State Jon Husted (HYOO’-sted) made the move Thursday.

It comes just a few weeks after he said the three needed to be replaced because of dysfunction plaguing the board in Toledo.

A former state official appointed by Husted to evaluate the board says a review found a long list of problems. A series of missteps and squabbling earlier this year delayed voting results for hours in the primary election.

Husted says board director Gina Kaczala (kuh-ZAH’-luh) will remain on an interim basis.
