PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio teen tells a jury she was in love with her foster father and feared he would commit suicide if she didn’t kill her foster mother as they had planned.
Sabrina Zunich was on the witness stand in a Lake County courtroom Thursday, testifying in the murder conspiracy trial of her former foster father, 43-year-old Kevin Knoefel (keh-NAY’-fel).
The now 19-year-old woman said the two plotted how she would kill 41-year-old Lisa Knoefel in November 2012, a few months after the family took her in as a foster child.
She admitted she stabbed Lisa Knoefel repeatedly with a 10-inch kitchen knife.
Kevin Knoefel’s attorney says Zunich was mentally ill and decided to kill Lisa Knoefel on her own.
