PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio jury is expected to continue deliberations in the trial of a man who prosecutors say conspired with his romantically involved foster daughter to kill his wife.
The jury in Lake County, east of Cleveland, plans to reconvene Wednesday to consider whether 43-year-old Kevin Knoefel (keh-NAY’-fel) is guilty of murder conspiracy and other charges in the fatal stabbing of his 41-year-old wife Lisa, allegedly by their 17-year-old foster daughter.
The foster daughter, Sabrina Zunich, testified that she was in love with Kevin Knoefel, and the two of them planned the slaying so they could be together.
Kevin Knoefel’s attorney said that the now-19-year-old Zunich is mentally ill and acted alone.
The (Willoughby) News-Herald ( ) reports that the jury deliberated more than three hours Tuesday without reaching a verdict.
