COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A southwest Ohio legislator has been identified as among the subjects of an investigation into possible ethics violations.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports ( ) that state Rep. Dale Mallory’s actions are being examined in a Joint Legislative Ethics Commission probe, after a lobbyist for payday lenders paid for tickets to a 2009 Cincinnati Bengals pro football game and for dinners at Cincinnati and Columbus restaurants.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien confirms that Mallory is among those under investigation. He declined to say how many other legislators are involved or to name them.

Mallory is a Cincinnati Democrat who is finishing the eight-year term limit for his House seat. He lost a bid in May’s primary for a state Senate nomination.

A telephone message was left Tuesday for Mallory.
