Ohio Man Gets Life In Mistaken Identity Slaying

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio man has been sentenced to life in prison for the death of a 74-year-old man who prosecutors say was shot after picking up his wife from a church.

A jury in Youngstown found 33-year-old Aubrey Toney guilty of murder and other charges earlier this month. The Vindicator ( ) reports he was sentenced Thursday to life, with a minimum of 29 years.

Prosecutors said Toney fatally shot 74-year-old Thomas Repchic as he was riding in a car with his then-74-year-old wife Jacqueline, who was wounded. They say Toney fired at the car because it resembled a car that a rival of his was known to drive.

The driver of the SUV Toney was riding in also is serving a life prison sentence.
