GREECE, N.Y. (AP) — An Amber Alert has been canceled for an upstate teenage girl.
Local media in Rochester say police in the suburb of Greece have confirmed they’ve found 16-year-old Cassidy Geffert and that she was safe. Details on how and where she was located have not been released.
The Amber Alert was issued earlier in the afternoon by New York State Police throughout much of western New York. It said the girl was taken from a residence around 10 a.m. Monday.
The alert was canceled around 3 p.m.
Police had said the girl’s cell phone was left behind, along with a blood-stained note indicating she was in danger. Authorities also reported the house was in disarray, with a knife on the floor and a .38-caliber handgun missing.
