Ohio Sheriff: Amish Target In Attacks, Burglaries

MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio (AP) — A sheriff in northeastern Ohio is looking into a spree of attacks and burglaries against the Amish.

The Geauga (jee-AW’-guh) County sheriff says the string of crimes happened nearly a week ago near Middlefield east of Cleveland.

Sheriff Dan McClelland tells WKYC-TV ( ) in Cleveland that say a group of masked men chased an Amish man and his girlfriend riding in a buggy and then the men later swung baseball bats at two other men in a buggy.

One of the two men was hit in the leg.

The sheriff says three Amish-owned shops were broken into that same evening.

McClelland also says patrols are being increased while they search for the suspects.
