CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland’s county prosecutor says a founding member of a vicious prison and street gang has been indicted on felony charges for alleged gang activity and a threat against an officer from the police gang unit.
The prosecutor describes 28-year-old Donte Ferguson as a top leader in the Cleveland-based Heartless Felons. He is charged with single counts of participating in a criminal gang, intimidation, retaliation and resisting arrest.
Police say Ferguson was arrested last week on a weapons violation of his probation and remains in custody. Court records listed no current attorney for him.
Prosecutors say five more members of the Heartless Felons were indicted on the gang charge in May. Last month, several dozen teenage members were charged with racketeering for alleged crimes committed in a juvenile detention center.
