CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities are searching for an inmate they say walked away from a jail in southwestern Ohio after assuming another prisoner’s identity.
Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil says inmate Chris Bowden had been sentenced to 10 years in prison for aggravated robbery, but was awaiting a court appearance on another charge.
Neil says Bowden falsified his identity and was released from the Hamilton County jail in Cincinnati Tuesday night.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports authorities say Bowden assumed the identity of another inmate who was scheduled to be released after posting bond and walked out likely dressed in that inmate’s clothing.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the escape.
They call the 20-year-old Bowden dangerous and urge anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office.
