WEST ALEXANDRIA (AP) — A southwest Ohio man who family members say rescued his girlfriend’s three children from a burning home is recovering from his injuries at a hospital.
Family members say Brandon “Bo” Barton ran through flames to get a 1 ½-year-old baby out of his crib, and grabbed a 5-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl to get them out of the burning home in the Preble County village of West Alexandria early Friday.
The Dayton Daily News reports that Barton was overcome by smoke. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but is continuing to show improvement.
The family lost everything in the fire, which authorities believe was started when a burning candle tipped over.
The children were not hurt.
