Ohio detectives search for clues in cold case

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Warren County (AP) — Detectives say they are searching a ravine in southwest Ohio for evidence in a 22-year-old unsolved murder.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Monday it was returning to the area of Washington Township, northeast of Cincinnati, where the body of Columbus-area salesman Dick Woods was found on Nov. 9, 1992.

The Dayton Daily News reports that barriers went up and the road was closed Monday as investigators searched for unspecified evidence.

The 41-year-old Woods was reported missing on Oct. 8, 1992, after calling his home outside Columbus. His body was found shot twice in the ravine near the Interstate 71 exit ramp, 1 ½ miles from the interstate rest stop where his 1990 Lexus was recovered.

The search is expected to take most of the week.
